At the Green Rest Stop
Iguana-Mazatlan, Mexico. He was really easy to see. He must have been in that little open space getting warm. It was rainy and chilly on this particular morning.

At the Literary Cafe
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot

Books are my best friends on rainy days, and faithful companions when I travel.
I tend to take poetry when I travel. What do you take?

At the Muir Beach Cafe
In every walk with Nature one receives more than he seeks.

It was like a sunrise at mid-day. The woman in the shot had the best seat on the cliff.

Spent some of the afternoon at Muir Beach just north of San Francisco. The weather was gray, windy, and chilly. The sun didn't burn through the clouds and there was this gorgeous pink and golden light on the horizon. It was like a sunrise at mid-day. The woman in the shot had the best seat on the cliff.

I go to Nature...
I go to Nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in tune once more. ~ John Burroughs
I saw a half dozen quail peaking at the grass. I heard the clip, clop of horses with riders, and the wind of the distant freeway as it rose up from the valley, birds some squawking, others singing, the rustle of little lizards in the bushes, the quick report of shotguns as I got higher and closer to the Rod & Gun club, the strained lungs of a mountain biker who past me, but still had breath enough to greet me.
Near the end of my journey I saw two coyotes on the hill above me hiding in the trees. They were listening to the quail. They changed position several times, but always stayed behind the tree cover. Sadly I didn't get a clear view so no photo of them today.
It was a wonderful hike.

I went hiking this morning up to Steven Springs Loop Trail. This Oak is along the Cora Older Trail. The sky was gorgeous once the fog began to burn off.I saw a half dozen quail peaking at the grass. For French Toast Lovers
These are so rich and decadent I'd make them for Sunday brunches, birthdays, and occasions that call for special breakfasts. I have one French toast lover I know would like these. For the recipe go here:

Blue Moon Rest Stop
Dec. 31, 2009 was a Blue Moon. What's a Blue Moon you ask? Well it's an extra full moon in the cycle.
Here's Wikipedia's explanation.

Here's my shot taken last night after the clouds cleared. Boring! There wasn't anything interesting around her or under her when I shot this. She was high in the Eastern sky.Stats: f/14, 1/250s, ISO 200, 280mm, Spot Metered in Manual Mode, and handheld. Using my Nikkor 70-300mm VR. Click inside the photo to view large.
